Meet the babe behind the butter

Tanina Jackson

Raised in Mesa, Arizona. Started oil painting at 13 under Thomas Kutschied and Lloyd Johnson, went to Arizona State, then studied fashion design at the Dubai International Art Centre. She came back and started Babe&Butter — a fine art studio devoted to fashion art — and has been running it for 15 years.

Her work lives where fashion, hip-hop and pop culture collide: strong women, big flowers, jewelry, high heels, and a lot of sparkle. It is girly on purpose and glamorous without apology.

Tanina paints live at fashion shows, concerts, launches and private parties — a finished piece by the end of the night, and the whole room watched it happen. It is the most talked-about thing at the event and the client keeps the canvas.

  2. Sketch & quote in 48 hoursTanina replies with a rough concept, size options and a flat price. Change anything.
  3. Paint, print, ship, hangHalf down to start, half on approval. Most canvases take 2–4 weeks; merch runs are quoted per order; spaces and murals are scheduled on site.
